Longevity Models

It is commonly accepted today that aging is one of the major risk factors for a large variety of diseases such as vascular, proliferative, and neurodegenerative diseases.

In recent years, the aging process is addressed via utilization of technologies regarding lifestyle, exercise, diet, and mindfulness, as well as adapting technologies of medical devices and chronic treatment with pharmaceuticals (Metformin, Rapamycin, Aspirin etc.).

In order to address this new therapeutic discipline at Pharmaseed, we gained experience utilizing measurements of physiological, biochemical, and functional activities related to aging. This was accomplished by tracking aging animal processes (such as physical, sexual and cognitive performance), while quantitatively measuring the response to therapeutic intervention.

In addition, in our aging animal models we are mastering technologies such as chronic inflammation, in order to specifically address the therapeutic targeted area.

  • Model available: Aged PAC Tg(SNCAWT) combined with Snca -/- mice on a western diet and MPTP injection.
  • Species available: Mouse.
  • Standard assessments: Cardiac, liver, kidney function evaluation. Clinical signs and body weight. Biochemical,  immunological and histology assays. Physiological evaluation: Cognitive, motor, sexual assessments. Behavioral tests including  rota-rod tests, open field tests, Morris water maze, object recognition test, social recognition test, passive avoidance test, eight-arm maze, beam walking test, cylinder test, stepping test, elevated plus maze. 
  • Additional assessments: Micro-dialysis, catecholamine and indoleamine (IHC) tissue content measurements.
  • Models available:  Chemotherapy or bilateral oophorectomy induced accelerated aging.  
  • Species available: Mouse, Rat.
